Military personnel won’t have to pay penalties to several airlines if they alter ticket reservation due to for duty reasons.

AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines and Hawaiian Airlines now waive ticket change fees for service members on military deployment orders, while ticketing changes on Southwest Airlines are currently free, said Jean Marie Ward of the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.

Continental, Frontier and Northwest Airlines also waive change fees and also will issue refunds on request, she added.

Information on individual carriers is available at dod.mil/mapsite/airtickets. html and will be updated as more airlines are added.

According to General Service Administration, or GSA, officials, a number of other airlines will waive ticket change penalties if service members present copies of their military orders or a letter from their commanders. But Ward suggested travelers call their airline for waiver information before going to the airport.

Military travelers became prime penalty targets Oct. 7, 2001, when America launched its military offensive against global terrorism.

Questions were raised in late 2002 when thousands of activated service members faced travel penalties.

At the Defense Department’s request, GSA officials queried City Pairs Program carriers-the contract carriers for government travelers-regarding ticket exchange penalties and waivers for military personnel, Ward said.

Meanwhile, Air Mobility Command officials pursued parallel inquiries and ultimately coordinated much of the discussion between the Pentagon and the airlines regarding waivers.

The Military Assistance Program Web site says the Army Emergency Relief Society, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and the Air Force Aid Society may provide loans to cover unexpected expenses resulting when air carriers don’t waive fees or penalties.

We are hoping that students will similarly take up this creative challenge by participating in 1 Malaysia Paper Plane Fun Contest on 7th March, 2010.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Vocus/PRWEB ) March 3, 2010 — CWorks Systems Berhad, (Mesdaq: 0079), an international facility management solutions provider, is spearheading 1 Malaysia Paper Plane Fun Contest 2010 – an inaugural event in which university students will compete against one another to determine who has built the most aerodynamic paper airplane. The contest will take place on the 7th March 2010 in Dewan Pusat Sukan, University Putra of Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor and is open to all college and university students in Malaysia. Winners will be determined by the ratio of the distance flown to actual flight time, and will be eligible for several prizes including round-trip airplane tickets to Tian Jin, China.

The purpose of the contest is multifold. First, it is supported by the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and seeks to promote the fun in learning science, math, and technology at higher educational institutions. Secondly, apart from CWorks’ meeting its Corporate Social Responsibility agenda and supporting the year of Malaysia Innovative 2010 recently launched on the 27th January 2010 by YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak, the 1 Malaysia Paper Plane Fun Contest 2010 embodies the spirit of 1 Malaysia, by encouraging the competing student groups to consist of diverse ethnicity – Malay, Chinese & Indian. Finally, the contest brings awareness to green and sustainability by requiring all participants to fashion their paper airplanes out of recycled paper.

“Our contest is deceptively simple yet accomplishes many goals. It promotes the excitement of learning math, science, and technology, as students must use their creativity, ingenuity, and educational background to create a paper airplane that can travel a great distance while using a minimal amount of tape. It promotes Malaysian oneness as students from different ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to work together. Finally, it promotes awareness in sustainability as all airplanes must be made from recycled paper,” stated Abdul Rani Achmed, CEO and founder of Cworks Systems. “As CWorks software developers and engineers, we often have to think outside of the box. We are hoping that students will similarly take up this creative challenge by participating in 1 Malaysia Paper Plane Fun Contest on 7th March, 2010.”

You’re a traveler. Wanderlust isn’t a one-time description but an around the clock condition. However, everyone knows that before you make the big trip there’s a lot of planning that goes into the process. Where do you want to go? Where will you stay? Is this a luxury trip or one where you’re scraping to get by? What will be your goals when you get there? Is there a particular cultural food or dance or activity that needs to be checked off? Is it an issue if you don’t speak the language? What’s the currency and are there ATMs to get out money? The questions asked before even looking at plane tickets can be overwhelming. For some, the hardest part is simply deciding where in the world you want to go.
Instead of dragging your feet to every library to check out every travel book, or simply hopping onto Google and trying to make a trip happen fro there let the television and the numerous travel, geography, and adventure shows available on HD do the planning for you. For a traveler, there’s nothing that strikes up your appetite more than up close shots of far away lands with descriptions and details of all the wondrous places you could go. With National Geographic you could learn the in depth culture that is occasionally lost as a tourist in a foreign country. By making lists and narrowing down your interests, you’ll feel even more determined when you find that next place you want to go. With fascinating and educational programs, you’ll feel prepared to walk into the foreign country with an idea of the culture and history of the place. For you, there’s nothing worse than being an ignorant traveler. Next, take a look at the Discovery Channel to learn more about must-have local goods and unknown food concoctions you would never find by simply walking down the street as a tourist. Also check out the local music scenes and the best places to go to as far as museums and out door activities go. Once your excitement levels have almost hit the roof, turn to Animal Planet and catch a sneak peak of the creepers and crawlers you can potentially make a part of your trip. Even if you are more on the side of a historic traveler rather than an expeditionist, being aware of your surroundings can never be a bad thing.
Now the only hard part is finding time off to travel and buying the actual plane tickets! With HD you can do all of your research beforehand and know exactly where it is you are going and what you cannot miss seeing.
Be sure to bring a camera on your trip, because when you come back you’ll be able to share your adventures on the big screen with Media Share. You can simply view your digital photos on your TV with all the details and high quality of HD television.
So the next time you’re looking for an adventure, forget the tour books and invest in the type of programming you’ll be able to continue to use long after your trip (and obviously for the next one you plan!)

Looking for a discounted air plane ticket can be a frustrating experience. Quite often you will think you have managed to locate the top deal to be had just to discover the person sitting next to you on the aircraft paid a third what you did.
Here are several tips to keep in mind whilst searching for a cheap air plane ticket, regardless of whether you are using a travel agent, the Classified Ads or the Internet:
Keep checking. Do not give up on a flight that you have already enquired on but can not find a decent fare. An airline that has not filled a plane as quickly as estimated may possibly add discounted seats with no word of warning. Always check back roughly once a week just to be certain.
If you are not too bothered about what time of day your journey is, why not consider an overnight departure? Searching for the more unpopular flights that depart between 1am and 5am may perhaps improve your likelihood of finding a cheap air plane ticket.
Do not insist on a particular day. Instruct the airlines and travel companies that you can be flexible by a few days so that they can allocate you the best prices existing for that time and subsequently you can decide on the option that suits you best.
Always compare one way tickets previous to purchasing a return. It is from time to time cheaper to book with separate airlines for your outbound and inbound flights than purchasing a return ticket with the same airline.
Many airlines will offer a discounted air plane ticket to students and senior citizens; ask concerning any discounted rates intended for your specific group.
Try flying to a secondary airport. Most major international airports often have a minor secondary airport nearby. Check to find out if you can acquire a better rate by flying to such an airport.
Use a travel consolidator. Travel consolidators like Go Air Tickets and Kingfisher Airlines booking are a terrific source for discounts on an air plane ticket. Consolidators purchase tickets in bulk from the airlines on specially cheap rates and after that get rid of them at a discounted rate from as much as twenty to seventy percent lower than the real fare. Consolidators have a tendency to hold a bare minimum amount of personnel so they are generally short on customer service but it is well worth the sacrifice as you consider the splendid deals you can get a hold of. If you are thinking of using a travel consolidator is certain it is a trustworthy company and is a part of an appropriate travel organization.

Washington D.C. provides generous admission discounts on wide range of tourist attractions to the students traveling to the District. To avail these discounts, the students need to carry along with them a valid ID or their current school ID during their Washington, D.C. tour. Students traveling to the District may also want to consider obtaining an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) which will allow them to enjoy benefits that extend beyond reduced admission fees to all the prominent hotspots in the city.
Every travel enthusiast who is a student should check out the International Student Travel Confederation website (www.itsc.org) for comprehensive travel services information and details on how to get the ISIC card. The ISIC card qualifies them to achieve substantial savings on rail passes, plane tickets, entrance fees, and more, during their Washington, D.C Sightseeing Tour.

When it comes to getting the best plane ticket prices, the average traveler may be at a distinct disadvantage. Even experienced travelers may not be getting the best plane ticket prices available because the airlines don’t give you the whole story. It is not in their best interest. Here are some tips on how to ensure that you are getting the best plane ticket prices available. First, you should plan on flying at an inconvenient time outside of the normal 9AM-5PM time range. Everybody wants to fly during banker’s hours, & consequently plane prices in this time slot are much higher due to supply & demand. By choosing a flight with a less convenient departure time, you should be able to lower your plane ticket prices. Second, you should book your flight well in advance. Airlines need to plan in advance for their flights & you should too. Last minute flights pose problems for airlines because they need to plan in advance how much space to allow for luggage & how much food to provide for the trip. They will give you a better rate if you allow them to plan ahead. You should take advantage. Book your flights at least a month in advance, & earlier if possible. Finally, here is a secret most people don’t think to follow that makes millions of dollars for the airlines they would otherwise not earn. Once you book your flight, continue to check the rate for your flight AFTER you have purchased your tickets. If the rate drops, contact the airline & ask them to honor the lower rate & refund the difference. They will do this for you if you will just ASK. Again, the earlier you book the flight, the better the chance for the rate to drop prior to your departure date. This will guarantee the lowest plane ticket prices prior to your departure.

Internet Improves Market Transparency
It seems to be easy to find cheap air tickets in the era of booking engines, which allow you to compare offers of all airlines in seconds. The internet reduces also the price differences between different providers offering tickets. Everybody knows how to find the airline website, especially since airlines push every customer to their website for an online check in, which can reduce the time at the airport considerably. And it is true, online check in can save you a full hour if you travel only with carry on luggage.
Same Plane, Different Prices
But in one aspect, there is no change: In the same plane, especially in economy class, there are on each flight passengers who paid for their ticket twice as much as the customer with the cheapest flight ticket. So one and the same flight can be an expensive flight, and at the same time a cheap flight. The question is now: We just want to leave the expensive part of the plane to somebody else! What do we need to do so that these flights are for us cheap flights?
Time is the Key to Inexpensive Airfares
The main keyword to get the a low airfare is “time”. It is the time, when you do your flight reservation, the time when you buy your ticket, and the time, when you travel. If you buy your ticket too early, you may miss some specials. Airlines bring their specials into the market, when they have an idea of the market conditions. For example, in September, airlines publish often their specials for the coming winter, the travel season after Christmas. It would be a mistake to buy a ticket for a flight coming February already in May. This is especially true if you travel in low season months. But it is also much easier to get cheap flights for February or November, than for August or December.
On the other hand, If you know you need to travel from December 22 to January 5, it is better to reserve your seat as early as possible. This means in late January of beginning of February. For a cheap air ticket in the summer vacations you may start to look in November. But if possible, keep your reservation open, and do not buy a ticket until January. In January, after the end of the Christmas travel season, specials for the summer travel season are usually published.
Minimum Stay and Maximum Stay Important for Air Fares.
The other important time feature of cheap flights is a stay over a weekend in your destination country, and the maximum time your ticket is valid.
Ethnic Fares
Air France and KLM demand for their Visit Friends and Family offers even a minimum stay of 2 weeks. Other airlines have similar programs. Since it is within the EU problematic to use the nationality of passengers to decide who can get these fares, other features are used to define this market segment. The fares of theses programs are sometimes only slightly lower than normal fares, but sometimes there may be stark price difference. And, what is equally important, the fare rules are more relaxed. Generally, cheap air tickets are not refundable, and often no change of the ticket is possible in any way. Ethnic fares target families who have roots in two or more countries, especially in Europe and in Africa, Asia or Latin America.
Ethnic fares and their cousins, like fares for military service people, are not published in booking engines.
A Low Price is not Enough
This brings another consideration on the table: We are not really looking for cheap flights. We want flights with well maintained aircraft, with an airline which will be still around when we want to return home again, on a way as direct as possible, and that for a low price.
